Ivan H. Fuhr, 86 of Andalusia, formerly of Edgington, died peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Lutheran Homes, Muscatine, Iowa. Funeral Services will be Friday at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Andalusia.
Ivan was born on May 28, 1925 in Taylor Ridge, Illinois to Phillip & Matilda “Tillie” (Hartman) Fuhr. He married Darlene Elliott on September 17, 1947 in Milan, Illinois.
Prior to retirement Ivan owned and operated Fuhr Roofing Co. in Edgington. He enjoyed many years of hunting Moose and Deer and gardening. He was well known for his homemade horseradish and apple cider. Ivan and Darlene enjoyed over 20 years of “snowbirding” in Mercedes, Texas.
Those left to cherish Ivan’s memory include his wife of 64 years, Darlene: his children and their spouses: Connie & Curt Krueger; Larry & Karen Fuhr; Dixie & Victor McKenna; JoAnn Fox and Jackie Platt; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren: a sister: Marilyn Shaffer and her husband, Claire Thompson and a brother: Virgil Fuhr and his wife, Maxine and his step-mother, Helen Fuhr. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents and twin sons, Donnie and Ronnie.
