Donald Zenk

Memorial services for Donald F. “Don” Zenk, 74 of Aledo, will be Saturday at 12:00 Noon at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Visitation is Saturday, prior to services, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Private family burial will be at a later date in Aledo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church; Mercer County Relay for Life or the Mercer County Food Pantry. Speer Funeral Home is assisting the family. Don died on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Trinity, Rock Island. Don was born on June 20, 1937 in Columbus, Wisconsin to Walter & Margarite (Else) Zenk. He married Judith Dorshorst on July 30, 1959 in Marshall, Wisconsin. Don was the owner of Zenk Construction, where he put his love of woodworking to use. He also enjoyed fishing and feeding the birds. Don spent a lot of time sawing wood with his boys and tending his woodburner. He was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church and a previous member of the Aledo Exchange Club. Those left to cherish Don’s memory include his wife of 52 years, Judy; a son: Craig (Karen Greer) Zenk; daughter: Kay (Paul) Hedrick; 6 grandchildren: Corey (Jessica) Zenk; Tyler (Reilly Hendricks) Zenk and Christopher, Brandon, Kendell and Jayke Hedrick and 2 great-grandchildren: Landon & Alexia Zenk all of Aledo. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Richard Kroneman and his family of Marshall, Wisconsin. Don was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Kroneman.
