Howard Carver, 88 of Little York, died Tuesday at the Mercer County Hospital.
Funeral Services are Saturday at 11:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation prior to the funeral, from 9 to 11 on Saturday. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Little York. Memorials may be made to the Howard Carver Memorial Fund.
Howard Melvin Carver was born on December 21, 1922 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Alpheus & Anna Carver. He married Florence Nicol on April 6, 1947. From this union two sons were born.
Howard was a salesman for Thede’s for 42 years, retiring in the late 80’s to farm near Little York. He enjoyed his time on the farm and in later years would spend the afternoon outside watching and waving to everyone who drove by. In earlier years he was a member of the Aledo Moose Lodge and the Little York Lions Club. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, billards and dancing. Howard loved listening to music, especially Big Band and Country Western.
Those left to cherish Howard’s memory include his wife, Florence; sons and their wives: Bruce & Lynn Carver of Fuquay Varina, NC and Jeff & Diane Carver of Little York; a granddaughter, Christy Carver and her son, Jasper-Jax Carver of Fuquay Varina, NC and step-grandchildren: Zach Hull and Maggie & Nate Wallace and their children: Jalyn & Paxson all of Galesburg. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: Marion, Robert and Ray and a sister, Mary Taylor.
